Apple has started offering a new repair service to repair the devices by one of its authorized service providers. In addition to existing instore and mail-in services, you can access the service that was first found on MacRumors via the Apple support site, where under some circumstances, a local on-site repair feature is available. “On-site service may be available at selected locations,” reads Apple’s support page.
Reparations are provided by Go Tech Services, which is listed on the website as an Apple-authorized service provider. The official company’s website states that its repair services can only be booked on the supporting platform of Apple.
The on-site repair service is currently seemingly limited. MacRumors reports that it is now available throughout the United States in six cities: San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Dallas, Chicago, and Houston. It seems to cover only certain kinds of repairs, too.
We noticed the repair option listed for iPhone screen repairs while searching through Apple’s support site. Still, it did not appear to be available for other devices such as iMacs, or different kinds of iPhone repairs such as battery replacements. In addition to the regular repair costs, Apple states that an “on-site visit fee” may also be paid. We also contacted Apple to request more information about the service.
This is not the first time that Apple has offered on-site repairs, but AppleCare for Enterprise is only available to organizations that have thousands of devices numbered. The limited number of repair options and extra fees mean on-site repairs won’t be for everyone, but when you need it, it’s nice to have the opportunity.
