Boycott Apple movement gets momentum as China-US trade war rise

Boycott Apple movement has started to rise in China after the China-US trade war intensified. The Chinese Weibo (China’s version of the tweeter is full of anti-apple and anti-trump messages. One user posted “I feel guilty watching the trade war. Once I have money I will change my smartphone (iPhone).”

“The functions in Huawei are comparable to Apple iPhone or even better. We have such a good smartphone alternative, why are we still using Apple?” another Weibo user posted.

Another joked about Huawei’s logo: “I think Huawei’s branding is amazing, it chops an apple into eight pieces.”

Along with the hate toward Apple, Chinese consumers are also showing their support toward Hawaii products. Not only individuals but companies are also stepping forward to show their support to Huawei. Some twenty companies announced on social media that they will increase their purchase of Hawaii products. However, this is not the first time the boycott apple movement has risen in China.

In December, last year, Chinese companies tried to convince employees to buy Hawaii and shun iPhone, by offering a heavy discount. According to resources, this movement started after the detention of Huawei’s Chief Financial Officer Meng Wanzhou in Canada at the request of American prosecutors.
