a) What is a logo?
A logo is a graphic sign or ideogram used by the organization or company for its sharp representation. It is basically a composition of some image and text to show the brand, identity, trustworthiness, dedication, and recognition of the company. While designing a logo, the company chooses a specific coloring scheme such as white and blue colors are used to depict patriotism, etc. In short, every company wants its logo to be unique, modern, simple, bold, eye-catching, target-oriented and impression-made that a viewer can immediately guess what kind of business the company is involved in.
b) Process of designing a logo:
Logo designing is not an easy task. It needs proper attention and conceptual skills of the designer. The process of good logo designing involves the following basic steps:
1- Short Description:
It is necessary for the client to explain to the designer about his company, objective of the logo, products/services, and all the requirements. If there is no direction or the information provided by the client is incomplete, the designer will not be able to get the idea properly.
2- Extensive Research:
After getting full details from the client, research is essential on the part of a designer before he takes a start. He must explore the related ideas, history and the competitors of the company. In this way, he will better be able to find a suitable ground after this brainstorming step.
3. Inspirational Research:
The next step is inspirational research in which the designer needs to deeply understand and decide what should be the color combination scheme, layout, text, size, style, look, and font, etc. The designer has to find different logos from the same field to check them from different angles and devise a strategy to get inspirational skills.
4. Paper Sketching:
Now is the practical step of the logo design process. The designer has to draw multiple sketches of the logo first on a page and not directly on the computer.
5- Have a break:
At this step, if the designer takes a break, his mind will think of more ideas and when he will restart working, he will surely have more excitement, insight, and creativity.
6- Digital Sketching:
After when he has drawn different sketches according to the client’s demand, he has to select the best out of them and then start designing on a computer using design software, e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Corel Draw, etc. Add the colors, text, font, etc. that he devised in the 3rd step.
7- Positioning & Reflection
At this step, the designer selects the position, height, width, effects, and dimensions of logo keeping in mind that positioning will be different for different aspects of business, e.g. media, technology, online marketing, medical company, etc. Nowadays, modern logos are designed with 2D and 3D shades and styles. So it is the need of modern and technological era that the logo should efficiently reflect the brand.
8- Customer feedback:
When the designer has designed the logo as per his understanding and expertise, he has to send all related samples of his creative logos to the client so that he might be in a position to know about the liking; disliking and suggestions of the customer as well as he can edit the logo if the client says.

9- Final Touch:
Since the designer is well aware of the design of the logo selected by the client, so, at this step, he only has to give the logo its final touch with the amendments that the client pointed out while giving his feedback. So with a little more effort, the logo is 100% complete.
10- Delivery of File:
Finally, the logo is ready to be delivered to the client. It depends upon his discretion if he is interested in getting the source file, provide him with. Source file means the original file of the logo, e.g. PSD, CDR, etc.
Generally, a logo is presented to the customer in the following file formats, i.e.
1- EPS: Encapsulated Postscript file that allows the logo to be re-sized and scalable without affecting its pixels and resolution.
2- JPEG: It is Joint Photographic Experts Group file just to visualize the logo, not editable.
3- GIF: It is a Graphics Interchange Format file and good for logos and sketches.
4- PNG: It is Portable Network Graphics file supported by most of the browsers, but not recommended for editing a logo.
c) Cost of logo:
The budget of your designed logo depends upon your effort, time, skills, client’s satisfaction and how much powerful and distinct logo you have designed. It can be as low as $5 and as high as $$406 million charged by British Petroleum.
