Samsung’s Latest Galaxy Fit2 Fitness Tracker

A new fitness tracker, the Samsung Galaxy Fit2, has been unveiled by Samsung with a super-long battery life that directly challenges the recently released Fitbit Inspire 2.

The Inspire 2, released just last week, will last up to 10 days between charges (making it the longest-lasting Fitbit ever), but with a wearable that can keep going for just over two weeks, Samsung has now gone one better.

During its IFA 2020 virtual event, Samsung announced the Galaxy Fit2. As the name suggests, with a freshly pared-back look that should lead to a lighter weight, it’s a successor to last year’s Galaxy Suit. While the original Galaxy Fit had an aluminum case, which made it an activity band that looked incredibly sharp, the body and brace of the Fit2 are all one piece of molded silicone.

Like the previous Fit, the new watch has a color display, but there is no button on the side of the case this time, rather than a virtual button just under the screen that serves the same function.

Samsung Galaxy Fit2 specifications and features

The Samsung Galaxy Fit2 features a 1.1-inch AMOLED display that provides a brightness of 450 nits for improved visibility. It comes with a front-touch button that allows quick navigation and simple wake-up, return home, and cancel functionality. The Galaxy Fit2 with over 70 customizable watch faces can be personalized by owners and by setting up 12 dedicated icons and widgets at a time.

The Galaxy Fit2 with presets from the Samsung Health app helps track five automatic workouts and nearly 90 more activities. It comes with an overview of the Sleep Score that can track your sleep cycle in four phases: Awake, REM, Light, and Deep. It also provides Stress Monitoring that helps keep a check on your stress levels, and when high-stress levels are identified, it suggests a breathing guide. It also offers easy access to the music player on your phone.

The wearable Galaxy Fit2 Fitness Tracker from Samsung comes with 5ATM water resistance and a Water Lock feature useful during swimming sessions or other water-based operations. It packs a 159mAh battery on a single charge that can provide up to 15 days of regular service. The capacity can be expanded by up to 21 days with limited day-only use. Weighing 21 grams, the Galaxy Matched 2.

Prices or a launch date for the Galaxy Fit2 Fitness Tracker are yet to be confirmed by Samsung, but the initial Fit was released at $99.99 (about £75 / AU$135). The all-silicone design means that Fit2 looks like a less premium product, but we would not be shocked if it carries the same price tag at launch, given the tremendous improvement in battery life.
